I have been a conservative for 29 years and have seen a lot of elections, dirty politics, ambitious candidates, and most consistently the Republican establishment. John McCain and Mitt Romney were candidates of the established elite, both insiders, no matter how hard Romney tried to put the sell job on us. Do you want more of this or do you want to make a Texas sized statement?
Remember when Conan O’Brien, and Steven Colbert got into it over “who made Huckabee?” Well lets just take a page from that argument and ask “who made McCain,” and who made Romney?” Well, it was the Republican establishment of course and the well known conservative alternative media pundits. They marginalized and out right lied about our candidate Mike Huckabee’s conservatism so that he would always be in a defensive position, knowing he would have a hard time getting out his message so that their candidate, Romney could win the crown of “Mr. Conservative.” Well the southern primary states took care of that proving who the true conservative was despite the split in conservative votes. Actually the ones truly to blame for splitting the conservative vote were the bought and paid for conservative pundits who became intoxicated with Romney’s love potion! Ergo, they split a conservative vote which should have gone to the true conservative candidate, Mike Huckabee. The party should have recognized or made inquiries about Huckabee when it became apparent that with almost no organization or funding he was able to win the Iowa primary. If the party elites would have dispensed with their usual meddling and scheming and had allowed the political process to work by itself, like its suppose to, the real conservative would have become apparent to everyone. Instead, they crippled the best candidate they had while putting on the “sell job” for the candidate that had the money and the pedigree. This is just more of what conservatives have had to endure with the same established party leadership for decades. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired of this. I am not glad for McCain’s campaign resurgence, but am glad to see their well laid schemes have once again blown up in their faces! Ha! Ha! Now they may be forced to get that giant close pin and hold their nose! Serves them right for their compromising ways which led them to, back a candidate that really wasn’t all that conservative but had all the trappings of money, status, and pedigree! It fits the very thing image that the Republican party is known for, all money and no compassion except when someone like Mike comes along and starts talking compassion. That’s when they label him a democrat just because he is living out his Christianity, something they should be doing with their money! If Romney was such a conservative, why did he cave so quickly to a moderate? Its no doubt because, there has to be something in it for him to justify 45 million dollars of his personal money that was poured into his campaign and thats it! When you compare it with Mike, look how quickly Romney caved the establishment! Yep! If he had become President, he would have caved to the D.C. establishment as well. He was no outsider as he claimed to be!
Looks like the real outsider is Mike Huckabee who has been the one that has been pushed to the outside when he should have been recognized and embraced. But he was poor, and of no great pedigree, being from Arkansas, only a three term governor in a democratically run state who took it from a 250 million dollar deficit to a 850 million dollar surplus. Hmm! Who here really reflects the real executive experience? Romney’s executive experience lasted 1 term as Governor. Otherwise he’s a wheeler dealer who invests and sells companies for a living. No real years of executive experience here! Its been amazing what some conservatives, even evangelicals were willing to rationalize!
As I said, Mike Huckabee was the candidate that all conservatives should have embraced and united behind right away. The problem is that whenever these kind of quality candidates like Mike Huckabee come along, if party elites can’t control them, they snub them! Party leadership really do resemble gambling bookies, trying to decide for the rest of us which candidate, not principals, we should vote for in order to win power for us in Washington D.C. So, if they are willing to be unprincipled in their dealings, how are they different, outside of the party platform, than Democrats, who are willing to do the same thing and worse for power? I feel like Jesus did, when he said “Oh ye of little faith. Why did you doubt?”
I am also a pragmatic person myself, so I understand this mentality of picking a winner. However, I also know that if everyone who is a conservative voted their conscience and voted for the most conservative candidate, he would win! Duh! This pragmatic guessing game that political “King Makers” like to play not only ruins us politically but ruins good candidates and keeps others from coming forward. If good candidates can’t count on conservatives and much of their own party to believe in them and rally to them, why should they make all the sacrifices and run for office?
So, what I am getting at is this. I know there are a lot of conservatives in Texas because I lived in Texas and I was involved in Texas Republican politics. I also know that Texans are very proud of their state, their heritage, and the fact that they once used to be their own country! Yes, that’s right! Texas was like an independent country before it was added to the United States. So, since everything is BIG in Texas, will all you conservatives there make a BIG STATEMENT to John McCain by voting for the true conservative who has been standing for all of us, taking the hits from the cynical media about why he still stays in the race. Its not just because he wants to rally conservatives alone, but because he believes and lives the principles that we as conservatives believe. He has been the one that has been flying the “bold colors” that Ronald Reagan spoke of but no one of importance has been looking, except for when Dr. James Dobson finally woke up from being divided, courtesy of Romney’s withdrawal and endorsed Mike Huckabee, a little too late I might say to do much good.
I am asking you. Will you make the biggest protest yet? By voting for Mike Huckabee, will you tell all the McCainites out there that conservatives are not happy with the way the Republican party has managed things, again? They ruined the congressional elections by staying home and now they are out to ruin the Presidential election into the ground by allowing John McCain to become the Republican nominee with a divided party. Let me say once again! Huckabee didn’t do this, our party leadership did this!
Texas, you don’t have to stand by and watch this happen in your state! Yes, helping Mike Huckabee bring this whole thing to the convention floor is a long shot, but honestly what kind of realistic chances do you see of a John McCain candidacy beating the Democrat nominee in fall ? For a guy who can’t unite the party as it stands, how is he going to get out the vote in the kind of numbers that will match the kind of Democrat voter turn out that we have seen in the Democrat primaries? As it stands right now, that is just as much of a long shot too!
If Mike Huckabee can’t stave off McCain getting his 1,191 delegates, so what? VOTE HUCKABEE ANYWAY! At least by doing so, conservatives can make a BIG statement to McCain that we are a formidable voting block and that we will not be satisfied until he at least makes Huckabee a vice presidential candidate. By making a huge statement like that, maybe conservatives in remaining states will follow suit, sending one message to wit: that conservatives can hold John McCain’s feet to the fire and make sure he does govern to the RIGHT should he become the next president.
Either way, voting for Huckabee is a win, win for us!!! We can all make sure Huckabee takes Texas away from McCain, or we can still make sure that conservatives have a voice. Frankly we owe it to Mike Huckabee and his supporters who have been working their butts off representing conservative evangelicals, taking the criticism, mockery, and disdain for it all!
So what do you say TEXAS? Lets SHOUT and let the party establishment know that we aren’t going to just lay down and take it from the moderates any more!
Vote for Mike, join Mike’s Rangers at www.mikehuckabee.com and lets make some noise! After all, we have nothing to lose and everything to gain! GO EVER READY MIKE GO!
