Just wanted everyone or anyone to know that may read my blog that I took a break from blogging after the Huckabee candidacy to develop my new business ventures. After also keeping some very, very, late hours into the wee hours of the morning due to a long time insomnia problem that i have been struggling with, particularly over the last 6 months, I am happy to report that I am finally getting more sleep than the usual 3-4 hours a night which is a welcomed blessing in my life and why I haven’t been blogging in the last month. It is my desire to get back to regular blogging as soon as I can recover some semblance of stability with my time and daily routine.
Much of my time lately is being spent in addressing many day to day challenges in my personal life, while trying to learn how to develop a website for my new business venture. I have embarked upon the all time consuming pursuit of web design so as to learn how to design my own business website with Dreamweaver MX 2004. I have to say that lynda.com has made my learning experience so much easier than it could have been without it.
Web design is one of the many things i do enjoy and hope one day to be better at. My father whose career was in advertising design and paste up would have been in heaven if he were alive today and had access to web design software. In his time, he was excellent at his craft which commanded a certain demand for meticulousness and patience using traditional paper layouts and paste ups for articles and magazines going to print. Oh what fun he would have had if he had lived long enough to indulge in the software design applications of today. He might also have been pulling his hair out too at the same time. However, web design has its own down side. It can be very time consuming, especially when trying to straighten out errors. Thank God for the “Undo” function!! The fact that there is always new application features to keep up with sort of makes web design like everything else in computer technology,”forever learning and never coming to the knowledge of truth,” if I may quote a bible scripture. Modern web design takes a certain persistence, meticulousness and patience of its own even if its not delicately pasting and relocating text and paper layouts by hand as my father did in his day.
Well, I hope that the talent of design and business sense that my father passed down to me will flourish in my hand with the more I learn. As my skill increases, particularly with the ability to combine media with design, I can utilize it to communicate messages of truth effectively so eyes and hearts can open and awaken maybe for the first time to the timeless truth about how much God loves them through Jesus Christ. If I can accomplish that, I would account that my time learning this new skill will not have been spent in vain.
